Unhappy no power at high RPMs

I have a 99 ford ranger with a 2.5 that went bad. So i put in a 1996 2.3. But i cant seem to get any pwer in over drive the first 4 gears appear to be fine but not in overdrive. i have rep[laced the fuel pump and filter and plugs and wires mass air got rid of the catalytic converter checked the timing belt and timing, i dont know what else to check...can someone please help me.. the 2.3 has about 25,000 miles factory on it. i even put the 2.3 computer in it
but it was to an automatic. i put the intake from the 2.5 on the 2.3 because it didnt have a fuel return line on it. thats all i have done.
