Hi,
I just purchased a 2009 Ranger 2.3 manual and want to put a set of winter tires on. I have the opportunity to purchase a good used set of tires 235/75/R15 that came off a 1997 Ranger 4x4. Would there be any issues with this? I am new to this forum, and to vechicles in general. Thanks Howard |

You should be alright with 75s. If need be, just crank up the tbars once or twice to clear them on the front. Easy solution right there.

Thanks for quick replies. Right now there are the 225/70/15 all season radials that came with the vehicle. I would be getting the tires with rims.
Is "cranking up the tbars" something that is easily done by my local mechanic? Thanks! This place is great! Howard |

You wont need to crank your torsion bars. The tires will fit, however you have to watch out for the trucks handling, it will change slightly due to width and tire size. You really arent going up by that much, so, if you can get the tires cheap, try them out and see how they work.

You can do it yourself. All you have to do is jack it up so the front end's off the ground, and follow the bars back from the front suspension. There should be a crossmember there, and there's two bolts in thee crossmember (one on each side of the truck). Mine are 13mm, not sure if yours may be different or not.

Thanks. What differences would I expect to see in handling? Also, does a larger tire size mean that my actual speed will be different from my speedometer reading?
Seems to be a slight disagreement as to whether I will need to crank the torsion bars. |
