I have done mine with minimal sanding and leaving the rubber on it. I scuffed it up, cleaned it with windex, alloowed it to dry completely then painted it. They came out real good and have lasted for a while. Clear coat prevents chipping as well

yeah you can do it with the rubber on but the rubber chips very easily

This is my old bezel I did without removing the rubber coating and I clear coated it as well

This is what happened when my idiot self didn't prime the paint....

No need to prime it, Pete, you sprayed it on too thick and probably didnt use an ammonia based cleaner to clean it before painting. You need to do light coats, that is why yours ran and shows orange peel

Used alcohol and did light coats. This is what turned out lol. But priming brings out the color more as well. Just throwing that out there.

Use the DuPont Adhersion promoter then paint.
Never used primer on anything plastic. Primer should work with the Adhersion Promoter too.
