ok so im new to whole snow thing. how does putting snow tires on effect you balance of your wheels. if i do this will i need to get why wheels re aligned or can i just swap the tires over? and i get ice more than snow so will different tires even help? i thinkin i might just get a couple hundred pound of sand and go from there.

Default Snow Tires

You'll get better traction with snow tires as the tread is more aggressive; however, your truck won't stop any better than any other car so be careful. You may think about getting them studded if you drive on ice a lot. Studs help a lot but ruin the ride.

You should able to put them on your truck without any alignment issues or anything else as long as they are not oversized. The dealers almost always tell you that you need to get your front end aligned. It is a classic attempt at making extra $$$. I even had one dealer tell me the warrantee would be void if I didn't get an alignment. I cancelled the job and drove away from the dealer shortly thereafter.

Just put a set of Gislaved C 225/70R 15's on my 09 Ranger 2x4 and now it will go anywhere. I am totally blown away by the added security and traction. I can now park in just about snowbank with out worry. This is a light truck tire and seems to be even more stable on the highway than the stock 235/75R 15's allseasons that are stock. Snow's I recommend, Gislaved C's I also recommend. Go for it! You wont regret it at all

Just took my 03 2wd down the road and back. It had a little bit of snow, but under it was ice. I put 2 50 pound bags of cracked corn in it. My tires are 235-75-15 Goodyear Wrangler Radials. The truck did awesome (barely even spun) even with the hill on my road. I'm sure the limited slip helped alot, too.

I have 2WD, and in my old '93 Ranger did pretty good in the winter with a couple tube of sand in back.
I know I'm a little late, but who cares. I just had mine out in the snow, and it was so much better than anything I have ever driven. I have the trak-lok rear axle though in mine.
