Default 98 Ranger Door Ajar switches

My door ajar/anti theft switches need replacing. The alarm goes off randomly and the door ajar light is constantly on. This is a known issue with the 98 Ranger. Can anyone tell me where the switches are and how to get at them?

I'm having the same issues with my door. I just replaced the front door hinges. I got into a bad situation. I always had when I went around corners my door ajar light would come on and the light would come on and everything. So one day I looked into the latch on the bottom of the rear door and it was like flipped around. Turns out the scum bag that sold it to me must have had the same issue with the door ajar switch so just to make the light go out while he told it to me he manually flipped the latch around. Now that i know this is the issue I'm still struggling to get this thing to latch and have the door ajar light go away. Everyone always says grease it up or spray wd40 in it but this stuff still isn't working what else can I try?

Go and use some grease lightening lithium, I found that works the best wd-40 really doesn't work that well. I used it and my door ajar switch hasn't gone off again.

I have had the same thing happen on my 2002. I thought it was just the cold weather and like everyone else, couldn't find any door switches on the frame. It eventually went out (the light) but now its been on straight for 3 weeks! Will try and clean up the bottom latch and grease it with your suggestion. Thanks guys. This will make my life a lot easier. The forum works!!!!
