Door Ajar Tone & 4whl Drive problem - Ford Ranger Forum

Hey all

New member here (posted my truck in the introduction section), I have a couple of problems, hoping you guys can lead me the right way to rectifying them

First, I have the annoying "Door Ajar" warning light that stays on while I'm driving and will shut off either by itself after a while, or if I continously flip the switch for the power door locks. The door ajar light isnt what bothers me, its the dome light staying on untill I reach a certain speed (makes for a PITA when backing up @ night). Also if I leave the keys in the ignition, with the engine off, and the door closed, the bell will chime FOREVER....Any help?

Secondly. the 4 wheel drive goes into 4 wheel fine, its disengaging it thats the problem. I have to stop and back up for it to disengage....what can this be?

try spraying the door latches with wd-40 there is a small spring in there that sticks.

i have the same door ajar problem on my 98 xlt and white lithium grease or wd40 worked fine.:-)
