Question engine running poorly no clue why?????

I have 92 2.3 liter Ford Ranger that has been running rough at idle ever since i bought it and i still cant figure out why? it also just recently started to almost die when i start moving which its never done before and i am doing the exact thing with the clutch and the gas. Also my rpm gauge has never worked right as well it will only go up to 2000rpms and that's close to redlining it any ideas on either problem?

Check plugs, wires, coil packs and your Idle air control valve

Might be your egr valve. My truck was struggling to stay alive because the egr valve was stuck open. Is you check engine light on?

Yes and it's been on ever since I bought it. How do I fix the egr valve?

You can replace the EGR, If I remember correctly it screws on near the rear of the engine and you will need some PB blaster on the nuts(lol) to loosen them
