Default whats missing

it appears as though something is missing under the hood on the drivers side mounted to the wheel well...there are two plugs just sitting there as well. my guess is its either where the compressor was for the A/C since the truck has A/C but there doesnt appear to be a compressor or power steering pump but im not sure these trucks even had power steering. oh and once again its a 1987 Ford Ranger 2.3L 5speed single cab. Any ideas? Oh and occasionally it grinds when putting the truck into reverse, normal or not?

the compressor for the ac iirc should be on the passenger side of the engine..... and if it had power steering the pump would be on the drivers side of the engine....

My 87' has a few "I go nowhere" wires. Everything works, so I pay no mind to them.

Both your AC and Power steering pumps will be belt driven, therefore would be located in the front.

By the way.... I've never heard of a 1987 Ranger that didn't have power steering! Ha ha. That's hilarious. Especially since it has AC. I thought even base models had PS.

Anyway, don't worry about your open ended wires. They were there for an option you truck doesn't have.

Regards

-Denny

They're the overhead dome light plug and that little grey plug isnt used on my truck either....you shouldnt have anything to worry about. They're both unplugged on mine.

They may be there for an option that was available on that truck from the dealer and you might not have it.
